Kybella vs. CoolSculpting for a Double Chin: Which Is Right for You?
Quick answer
Both permanently reduce under-chin fat, but differently. Kybella is an injectable that dissolves small, defined fat pockets over 2–3 sessions; CoolSculpting freezes larger pockets in one. Kybella suits smaller chins and precise shaping; CoolSculpting suits more volume and needle-averse patients. Neither tightens loose skin — which is often the real question.

How each works
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, injected to destroy fat cells under the chin. CoolSculpting (cryolipolysis) freezes and destroys fat with an applicator. Both permanently remove treated fat cells.
Sessions, downtime, and results
Kybella usually needs 2–3 sessions with noticeable swelling for up to a week; CoolSculpting is often 1–2 sessions with milder downtime.
Who each suits
Kybella fits small, defined pockets and precise shaping; CoolSculpting fits more fat volume and needle-averse patients.
The question both miss — skin laxity
Neither tightens loose skin. If sagging is your main concern, fat reduction alone can worsen it — you may need a skin-tightening approach instead or in addition. A dermatologist assesses fat vs. skin vs. muscle bands before recommending anything.
